Plan de la Ville de Siam. Capitale du Royaume de ce nom. Levee par un Ingenieur Francois en 1687.

 

A plan of the city of Ayutthaya which was the capital city of Siam at this time. It was the capital city until 1767 when it was destroyed by a Burmese army. Bangkok became the capital city after this time.

 

 

Engraved by Jacob van der Schley. Jacob van der Schley was a Dutch engraver who re-engraved Bellin's maps for the Dutch editions of Prevost's Histoire des Voyages 1763 - 66. Many of his maps were of high quality and beautifully engraved.
